Haunua
On 24th - 25th of May all the year 9’s attended Haunua with their teachers and pair mentors who took great care of us all.
There were a lot of hard courses we took in order to become independent and brave. Some students even had the fear of heights until they did the leap of faith course, some say it was terrifying and some say it was fun.
The food was so delicious thanks to the staff it was healthy. We had Hot Dogs, Butter Chicken, Hot Chocolate, Popsicles, yummy Fruits and biscuits. I was super happy that the food was delicious even at breakfast
9PSA didn’t not end up doing the Confidence Course because of a power cut, we couldn’t have proper showers nor water will come out of the taps, but luckily there was a box filled with water from the staff which was a lucky call because it was very tiring but fun.
It was quite cold outside but we brought a whole lot of warm clothes which made it a bit better. The cabin’s were really clean when we got there which made a lovely entrance for our group. I had a comfortable sleep, but I do not know about the others.
What do you want the next year 9’s to know?
I think they should know to pick up their crumbs up that they left in the cabin’s because there are possibilities that the possums could go into your cabin. They also should know to bring some sanitary items because you’ll be outside most of the day and the bugs will get to them also bring everything on the gear list, and pick up after yourselves also take care and don’t leave any rubbish behind.
The courses we did were very fun, especially the Leap of Faith which was my favourite. My archery teacher (Michael) was also super nice and funny, he taught us very well and he explained everything perfectly and you will learn very fast so pay attention because you can’t miss one bit of advice, you may get hurt.
